
New Delhi: The Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Army Welfare Association Society (AWES) in a ceremony held in New Delhi. The MoU was signed under the chairpersonship of Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).
This strategic partnership aims to enhance Indian Sign Language (ISL) skills among the faculty of Army Public Schools, promoting a more inclusive educational environment. The collaboration will involve training school administrators, students, parents, and teachers, focusing on fostering sign language proficiency and broadening the reach of ISL initiatives.
By empowering educators with ISL skills, the partnership is set to create a more supportive learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the development and promotion of Indian Sign Language, contributing to the empowerment and inclusion of the Deaf community.
The MoU was signed by Dr. N. Honnareddy, Director of ISLRTC, and Maj. Gen. P.R. Murali, Managing Director of AWES. The ceremony was also attended by Col. K.K. Sharma, Director of Schools at AWES, Manisha Verma, faculty of Inclusive Education at AWES, and Dr. Abhishek Kr. Srivastava, Assistant Professor at ISLRTC.
