New Delhi: Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh inaugurated Indie Haat at the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy, celebrating India’s vibrant textile and handicraft traditions. The event, running from February 12 to 18, 2025, aims to provide artisans and weavers with a direct platform to connect with global markets while preserving traditional crafts.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Singh emphasized that Indie Haat is more than just an exhibition—it is a tribute to India’s diverse craftsmanship. “Through this platform, we are not only preserving our traditional crafts but also ensuring artisans and weavers gain direct exposure to global buyers,” he said.
The event features an exquisite display of 80 different handcrafted and handwoven products, created by 85 artisans and weavers from across the country. From intricate Gulabi Minakari and Mithila paintings to Chamba Rumal embroidery, Kalamkari paintings, Bidri craft, and Bastar Dhokra, the event represents the rich artistic diversity of India. Additionally, a wide range of India’s finest textiles—such as Paithani sarees, Jamdani weaves, Pashmina shawls, Muga silk sarees, and Maheshwari drapes—are on display, highlighting the country’s deep-rooted weaving traditions.
As part of its collaboration with Bharat Tex 2025, Indie Haat will also feature 30 artisans presenting live craft demonstrations at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 14 to 17. Bharat Tex 2025, spread across 2.2 million square feet, will host over 5,000 exhibitors and attract more than 6,000 international buyers from 110+ countries. With an expected footfall of over 120,000 visitors, including global CEOs and policymakers, the event is set to enhance visibility for India’s textile and handicraft sector on a global scale.
Organized by the Office of the Development Commissioners (Handicrafts & Handlooms) in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Indie Haat is designed to present India’s finest craftsmanship in an engaging and contemporary manner. Visitors will not only witness live demonstrations of traditional craft techniques but also have the opportunity to directly engage with artisans, fostering economic empowerment and strengthening market linkages.
