New Delhi: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, inaugurated India’s first-of-its-kind CSIR Mega “Innovation Complex” in Mumbai through virtual mode on January 17. Dedicated to startups and industry stakeholders, this state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in fostering innovation and empowering entrepreneurs.
Spread over nine floors, the Innovation Complex boasts 24 “ready-to-move” incubation labs, furnished office spaces, and networking hubs, designed to support startups, MSMEs, and industry stakeholders. The facility integrates advanced scientific infrastructure, regulatory support, and a collaborative environment to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications.
Highlighting the initiative, Dr. Singh stated, “This inauguration is just the beginning. The CSIR Innovation Complex represents a leap forward in India’s innovation landscape, empowering startups and industries while contributing to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The facility will serve as an innovation hub for sectors such as healthcare, chemicals, materials, energy, and other key industries. Equipped with world-class resources like Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and a Geographical Information System (GIS), it aims to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive faster technology transfers.
Dr. Singh also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in positioning India as a global hub for startups, emphasizing the country’s achievement as the third-largest startup ecosystem worldwide, boasting over 100 unicorns.
“Facilities like this embody the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity that define our journey towards a self-reliant India,” Dr. Singh added.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Dr. V.K. Saraswat and Dr. V.K. Paul of NITI Aayog, and Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Secretary of DSIR and DG CSIR. Industry leaders, foreign delegates from Norway, Switzerland, and Germany, and over 1,000 scientists from CSIR labs also participated.
