Indian Railways Promotes Domestic Tourism with ‘Bharat Gaurav’ Theme-based Tourist Trains

New Delhi: In a bid to showcase India’s cultural heritage and historical landmarks, Indian Railways has introduced the ‘Bharat Gaurav’ Tourist Trains, operating on theme-based circuits. These trains, dedicated to promoting domestic tourism, have successfully completed a total of 172 trips in 2023, carrying 96,491 tourists to various destinations across 24 States and Union Territories.

The ‘Bharat Gaurav’ Trains, part of the Ministry of Railways’ initiative to boost rail-based tourism, have covered major circuits like Shri Ram-Janaki Yatra (Ayodhya to Janakpur), Shri Jagannath Yatra, “Garvi Gujarat” tour, Ambedkar Circuit, and North East tour. These theme-based circuits aim to provide comprehensive tour packages, including off-board travel, excursions by buses, hotel stays, tour guides, meals, travel insurance, and a comfortable train journey.

This concerted effort aligns with the Government of India’s initiatives ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh,’ encouraging domestic tourism and offering travellers an immersive experience of India’s diverse cultural and historical richness.
