Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron Completes Successful Deployment to Bahrain

Manama, Bahrain: The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir and ICGS Veera, concluded a successful long-range training deployment to Manama, Bahrain. The visit, aimed at enhancing regional maritime cooperation, involved high-level meetings, operational exchanges, and community outreach activities, further strengthening ties between the Indian Navy and Bahrain.

During the port call, Captain Anshul Kishore, Senior Officer of 1TS, held discussions with Major General Salman Mubarak Al-Doseri of the Royal Command Staff and National Defence College and Commodore Ahmed Ebrahim Buhamood, Commander Flotilla. The talks centered on regional maritime security challenges and avenues for future collaboration in training and operations. Additionally, the Senior Officer, along with the Commanding Officer of ICGS Veera, met with Commodore Mark Anderson, Deputy Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), fostering dialogue on shared maritime interests.

The delegation also engaged with the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), focusing on strengthening maritime cooperation and reinforcing strategic partnerships between the Indian Navy and other regional forces. Ship visits were organized for personnel from the Bahrain Defence Forces, CMF, and naval forces of friendly foreign nations, promoting mutual understanding and paving the way for future collaborative exercises.

In the spirit of camaraderie, naval personnel from USNAVCENT and the Indian Navy participated in a friendly football match, while the Indian Navy band captivated audiences with a performance in Manama. The deployment also featured a community outreach activity at the Tree of Life Social Charity Society, reinforcing goodwill between the two nations. A formal reception was hosted onboard 1TS, attended by dignitaries from the Embassy of India, Bahrain Defence Forces, and members of the Indian diaspora.

The visit concluded with a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) between INS Tir, ICGS Veera, and the Royal Bahrain Naval Ship (RBNS) Al Farooq, showcasing the collaborative spirit between the Indian and Bahraini navies.
