Indian Navy Flags Off Motor Car Rally to Enhance Maritime Awareness and Youth Engagement

Kolkata: The Indian Navy’s Motor Car Rally Expedition on the East Coast was officially flagged off today from INS Netaji in Kolkata by Naval Officer-in-Charge (West Bengal). The rally, which aims to enhance maritime awareness, engage with youth, and promote career opportunities in the Indian Navy, will travel through several key locations on the East Coast.

The expedition, set to cover approximately 3,800 km, will journey from Kolkata to Chennai, continuing on to Kanyakumari before returning to Chennai on March 21, 2025. The event is designed to inspire young men and women to consider joining the Navy, with a particular focus on initiatives like the Agnipath Scheme and Naari Shakti, the Government of India’s women empowerment initiative.

Throughout the journey, the rally will make stops at various schools and colleges across the coastal states of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. It will provide an opportunity for the Navy to connect with students and local communities, spreading awareness about career prospects in the maritime sector and showcasing the Navy’s role in national security.

A key aspect of the rally is its engagement with Naval Veterans and Veer Naaris, providing updates on the latest government policy initiatives and the welfare measures undertaken for their benefit. This initiative underscores the Navy’s commitment to the well-being of those who have served the nation.

56 Indian Naval personnel, including officers, sailors, and their families, are participating in this flagship event. The rally, supported by M/s Hyundai Ltd, will also explore India’s rich maritime heritage by visiting historical naval sites and key locations along the ancient maritime trade routes.

The rally aims not only to raise awareness of the Navy’s vital role but also to foster a sense of national pride and encourage greater youth participation in the armed forces. Through this initiative, the Indian Navy continues to strengthen its connection with the community and empower future generations to join the forces that protect the nation’s seas and shores.
