Indian Delegation Led by Shri Muktesh Pardeshi Engages in Productive Talks at Abu Dhabi Dialogue

Dubai:  Muktesh Pardeshi, Secretary (CPV & OIA), spearheaded the Indian delegation at the Seventh Ministerial Consultations of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD), held in Dubai from February 10 to 11, 2024. The delegation, which included officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, actively participated in discussions aimed at fostering regional cooperation on labour mobility.

Established in 2008, the Abu Dhabi Dialogue is a regional, voluntary, and non-binding Consultative Process involving 11 Asian countries of labour origin and 7 destination countries. It acts as a pivotal platform for facilitating cooperation on contractual labour mobility, sharing best practices, and learning from each other’s experiences.

India’s involvement in the Abu Dhabi Dialogue aligns with the Government of India’s commitment to promoting safe, orderly, and legal migration. The consultations provide a crucial space for nations to address challenges related to migrant workers, ensuring their welfare and rights are safeguarded.

On the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue, Secretary Pardeshi engaged in a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The discussions revolved around various measures implemented by both governments to enhance the welfare of Indian migrant workers in the UAE.

The dialogue emphasized the collaborative efforts required to address the evolving needs of the Indian diaspora in the UAE, fostering a strong partnership between the two nations.

Additionally, Secretary Pardeshi took the opportunity to interact with Indian community organizations in Dubai, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by the community and discussing potential solutions. The visit also included a tour of the Consular Service Centres in Dubai, underlining the commitment to providing efficient and accessible services to the Indian expatriate community.

The outcomes of the Seventh Ministerial Consultations of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue are poised to contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts in creating a conducive environment for labour mobility, enhancing cooperation, and ensuring the well-being of Indian migrant workers in the region. The dialogue reaffirms the shared commitment of participating nations towards the principles of safe, orderly, and legal migration.
