India Mobile Congress 2024: ‘The Future is Now’ Unveiled with a Vision of Technological Advancement

New Delhi: The India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024’s theme, “The Future is Now,” was officially unveiled yesterday by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region. The announcement highlights India’s pivotal role in the global technological evolution and sets the stage for IMC 2024 to bring together global leaders, visionaries, pioneers, and innovators to shape the technologies that are transforming the world today.

In a ceremony marking the launch of IMC 2024, Scindia also introduced the new Indian Mobile Congress application and website. The innovative app will facilitate registration for various categories including Delegates, Visitors, Academia/College, Government, and Media. The launch event featured  Scindia as the first registrant, underlining the significant role of this congress in the technological landscape.

Keynote Address: Bridging Divides through Technology

In his keynote address, Scindia emphasized the transformative power of technology. “Technology is best when it brings people together. There can be no better example than our country Bharat,” he remarked. He highlighted the role of technology in bridging divides across the country, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It is technology and communications that will provide a platform of opportunities. Communications and networks will bring together people from the first village of India to the people of central villages of India,” he added.

The Minister described IMC as a global melting pot and expressed hope that India would continue to be at the center of such events in the future. The theme “The Future is Now” symbolizes India’s current capabilities, achievements, and future possibilities. Reflecting on the significant advancements in the telecom sector over the past decade, Scindia noted India’s transition from being a technology consumer to a technology supplier.

He praised recent telecom initiatives, including The Telecom Act 2023, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, and the rapid rollout of 5G technology. The Minister assured that the rules of The Telecom Act 2023 would be notified within the next 180 days.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023

During the event, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) announced the conferment of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2023. These awards recognize outstanding contributions in several areas, including Telecom Innovations, Telecom Skilling, Telecom Services, Telecom Manufacturing, and Telecom Applications.

The IMC 2024 is set to be a landmark event, reflecting India’s growing influence in the global technology arena and its commitment to advancing the future of communications. With “The Future is Now” as its guiding theme, the congress aims to foster collaboration and innovation that will shape the technological landscape for years to come.

The Minister also launched the Testing Scheme for Start-ups & MSMEs and oversaw the signing of MoU for between NTIPRIT and IIT Jammu for capacity building in the areas of Cybersecurity.
