India Lost to Germany in Semis, Will Play for Bronze in Paris Olympics

Paris:  The Indian men’s hockey team faced a heartbreaking 2-3 defeat against Germany in the semi-final match at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday.

Despite a valiant effort led by captain Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian team fell short in a closely contested match held at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium. With this loss, India will now compete for the bronze medal against Spain on Thursday, August 8, aiming to replicate their podium finish from Tokyo 2020.

The semi-final clash saw India starting strong, displaying aggressive play and maintaining control for most of the first half. However, Germany managed to secure a 2-1 lead by halftime. India fought back in the third quarter, equalizing the score, but a late goal by Germany sealed their fate, ending India’s hopes for a gold medal.

Germany’s victory sets them up for a showdown against the Netherlands in the gold medal match on Thursday. As for India, the focus shifts to clinching the bronze and finishing the tournament on a high note.
