India Firmly Rejects China’s Attempts to Rename Places in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: India has strongly denounced China’s persistent efforts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming that the northeastern state is an integral and inalienable part of the country.

In a statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Tuesday, India firmly rejected China’s “senseless attempts” to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh.

“China has persisted with its senseless attempts to rename places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. We firmly reject such attempts. Assigning invented names will not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India,” the statement read.

The Ministry of External Affairs’ response came after Beijing released a fourth list comprising 30 new names for various places in Arunachal Pradesh, escalating tensions between the two countries over the disputed region.

The border dispute between India and China over Arunachal Pradesh, which China refers to as “South Tibet,” has been a longstanding issue. However, India maintains that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of its territory, and the people of the state are Indian citizens.
