India Dominates Davis Cup, Extends Winning Streak Against Pakistan to 8-0

New Delhi: In a stellar display of prowess, the Indian Davis Cup team continued their unblemished record against Pakistan by securing victories in both singles matches on Saturday, achieving an overall record of 8-0 in Davis Cup clashes between the two nations.

The Indian doubles pair, comprising Saketh Myneni and Yuki Bhambri, showcased exceptional skills as they outclassed the Pakistani duo of Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza, sealing their victory with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-6. The synergy between Myneni and Bhambri proved to be a formidable force on the court.

Pakistan faced a setback when veteran player Aisamul Haq Qureshi was unable to participate in the doubles match due to a hamstring injury sustained on Saturday. This unfortunate development significantly impacted Pakistan’s prospects in the crucial doubles category.

In the singles arena, Indian player Niki Poonacha demonstrated his prowess by defeating the youthful Muhammad Shoaib with a score of 6-3, 6-4, completing the match in a commendable 64 minutes.

With this victory, India has set the stage for the next phase of the Davis Cup competition. The twelve winning nations from the World Group I play-offs, including India, will proceed to compete in a World Group I tie scheduled for September. Simultaneously, the twelve losing nations will engage in a World Group II tie, also slated for September.
