Hyderabad: India secured a commanding 133-run victory over Bangladesh in the third T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, sealing a series whitewash. After choosing to bat first, India set a new team record, posting a massive 297-6 in 20 overs, their highest-ever T20I total and the second-highest by any team in the format.
Sanju Samson starred with a blazing maiden T20I century, scoring 111 off just 40 balls, which also marked the fourth-fastest T20I century by any international player. He was well-supported by Suryakumar Yadav, who contributed 75 runs, and cameos from Hardik Pandya (47) and Riyan Parag (34). The batting fireworks included 25 fours and 22 sixes, as the Indian side demolished Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
In response, Bangladesh struggled to keep pace with the mammoth target, managing 164-7 in their 20 overs. Towhid Hridoy’s unbeaten 63 and Litton Das’s 42 were the only notable contributions, as the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Ravi Bishnoi led India’s bowling attack with a three-wicket haul, becoming the youngest Indian bowler to reach 50 T20I wickets. His landmark achievement came in just 33 matches, tying him with Arshdeep Singh for the second-fastest Indian to reach this milestone.
Mayank Yadav chipped in with two wickets, while Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy claimed one each, ensuring Bangladesh never came close to challenging India’s monumental total.
This victory extended India’s home series winning streak in T20Is to 16 consecutive bilateral series, a run that began in 2019. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the T20 World Cup champions also recorded their 10th straight T20I win, following up on series wins against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe earlier this year.
Sanju Samson was named Player of the Match for his explosive century, while Hardik Pandya earned the Player of the Series accolade for his consistent performances across the three matches.
This 133-run win is also India’s largest margin of victory in T20Is, surpassing previous victories over New Zealand by 168 runs in 2023 and Ireland by 143 runs in 2018.
Bangladesh’s bowling efforts were led by Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who claimed three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each. However, they struggled to contain India’s relentless batting assault, ultimately conceding the highest total ever recorded by a Test-playing nation in T20Is.
With this win, India completed a 3-0 series sweep, dominating Bangladesh in all three matches. The focus now shifts to the next challenges for the men in blue, as they look to build on their remarkable winning streak under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership.
