
New Delhi: India cleared two new Covid Vaccines and one pill today. The Health Ministry cleared CORBEVAX and COVOVAX as the two new vaccines and antiviral drug Molnupiravir after approval from Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
Making the announcement, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted in thread giving information about the vaccines and the pill.
CORBEVAX vaccine is India’s 1st indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against COVID19, made by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E. COVOVAX is a Nanoparticle Vaccine to be manufactured by Pune-based firm Serum Institute of India.
Molnupiravir can be used only in an emergency for treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have high risk of progression of the disease. Molnupiravir will be manufactured in the country by 13 companies for restricted use under emergency situation.
