India Celebrates World Homoeopathy Day 2025 with Grand Symposium in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, marked World Homoeopathy Day 2025 with a grand two-day celebration at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The event, organized by the Ministry through its premier institutions—the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH)—commemorated the 270th birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy.

Centered on the theme ‘Education, Practice and Research in Homoeopathy’, the event brought together over 8,000 participants, including global experts, academicians, clinicians, researchers, students, and industry professionals. The platform fostered dialogue on advancing Homoeopathy as a vital part of both national and global healthcare systems.

Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the event in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav. The inauguration was also attended by Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and other senior dignitaries.

In his keynote address, Prataprao Jadhav underscored India’s global leadership in traditional medicine. “Homoeopathy is not merely an alternative—it is a science rooted in compassion and evidence. On this World Homoeopathy Day, we reaffirm our commitment to expanding its scope through research, education, and public outreach,” he said. He further highlighted CCRH’s pioneering work in pharmacognosy, standardization of homoeopathic medicines, and digitization of 17,000 herbarium sheets.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised the Ministry of Ayush for choosing Gujarat as the venue for the landmark event, noting the state’s growing role in traditional medicine innovation. “This evidence-based therapy has immense potential to transform public health outcomes. Gujarat is honoured to support this movement, especially with WHO’s Global Centre for Traditional Medicine based in Jamnagar,” he stated.

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha paid tribute to Dr. Hahnemann’s visionary healing philosophy, stressing that Homoeopathy is well-positioned to meet the rising global demand for integrative, patient-centric healthcare. “The Ministry of Ayush is dedicated to strengthening this system through rigorous research, quality education, and supportive policy frameworks,” he added.

The celebration featured high-level panel discussions, scientific paper presentations, and interactive exhibitions. Dignitaries released a Convention Souvenir, eight new scientific publications, e-portals for the CCRH Library and Homoeopathy Archives, and a documentary film on drug proving—highlighting India’s scientific commitment to homoeopathy.

A major highlight was the largest-ever industry exhibition in Homoeopathy, aimed at bridging academic research and enterprise. A national-level innovation competition, held for the first time, encouraged students and practitioners to present new ideas and solutions for the future of Homoeopathy.
