
New Delhi: India and the United States reaffirmed their growing strategic and technological partnership in naval capabilities during the 8th meeting of the India-US Joint Working Group on Aircraft Carrier Technology Cooperation (JWGACTC), held from May 13 to 16, 2025. The meeting, organized under the framework of the India–US Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI), was hosted in India and marked a decade of cooperation in this critical area of defence technology.
A six-member US delegation led by Rear Admiral Casey Moton, Programme Executive Officer (PEO) for Aircraft Carriers, visited key defence establishments in Delhi and Goa as part of the engagement. The opening session of the Joint Working Group was held in New Delhi on May 13 and co-chaired by Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Assistant Controller Carrier Projects (ACCP), Indian Navy.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Moton underscored the significance of the Joint Working Group and highlighted the progress made over the past ten years. Both delegations acknowledged the group’s contributions to enhancing mutual understanding and advancing technical cooperation on aircraft carrier design, development, and operations.
The discussions during the meeting covered various facets of aircraft carrier technology, including future avenues for collaboration. A Joint Statement issued after the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to continue their partnership in this strategically important domain.
Following the sessions in Delhi, the delegation visited Goa, where in-depth professional exchanges were held between US officials and Indian Navy aviation specialists. The interactions focused on operational practices, technological integration, and future requirements related to aircraft carriers, further strengthening interoperability and shared maritime interests.
