India and Cuba Ink MoU for Digital Transformation Cooperation

New Delhi: In a significant stride toward fostering digital collaboration, an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) has been signed between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Cuba. The agreement, inked on January 19, 2024, in New Delhi, seeks to facilitate Cooperation in the field of Sharing Successful Digital Solutions Implemented at Population Scale for Digital Transformation.

The signatories to the MoU were Shri S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, representing India, and H.E. Mr. Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal, First Deputy Minister of Communications, representing Cuba. The primary objective of this collaboration is to promote digital transformation initiatives, with a focus on leveraging the INDIA STACK framework, through various strategic measures such as Capacity Building programs, exchange of best practices, and other collaborative activities. The overarching goal is to enhance the digital ecosystems of both nations through mutual cooperation.

As part of the MoU, India will extend its expertise to Cuba by sharing successful digital solutions and contributing to Capacity Building programs. This collaborative effort aims to enable a seamless adoption of Digital Public Infrastructure in Cuba, fostering technological advancements and digital inclusivity.

The partnership signifies the commitment of both countries to harness the potential of digital technologies for the betterment of their societies. By exchanging knowledge and experiences, India and Cuba aspire to enhance the effectiveness of their digital initiatives, ultimately leading to comprehensive digital transformation.

The MoU marks a crucial step forward in strengthening bilateral ties between India and Cuba, setting the stage for impactful collaborations in the realm of digital innovation and technology adoption.
