IFFI 2024 Jury Discusses Best Web Series (OTT) Award Selection Challenges

Goa: The final press conference of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) provided a glimpse into the deliberations behind the Best Web Series (OTT) Award 2024. Members of the jury, led by Chairperson Madhur Bhandarkar, shared their experiences and reflections at the Press Conference Hall, PIB Media Centre.

In his opening remarks, Bhandarkar emphasized the universal appeal of art. “Art has no limits, no boundaries. You connect with emotions, regardless of language, thanks to subtitles. This is the beauty of storytelling in today’s world,” he stated, highlighting the transformative power of global narratives.

Jury member Krishna Hebbale humorously recounted the intense yet spirited discussions during the selection process. “There were no physical scars, but it was a strong fight! We all brought our notes and passionately defended our choices,” he said, illustrating the jury’s dedication to recognizing the best among the ten nominees.

Harish Shankar, the youngest member of the jury, expressed his admiration for Bhandarkar, calling it an honour to work alongside him. Reflecting on the deliberations, Shankar remarked, “It wasn’t about arguments; it was about reaching a consensus through discussions.”

The Best Web Series (OTT) Award, introduced at IFFI in 2023, recognizes the growing influence of OTT platforms in shaping contemporary entertainment. This year’s nominees represent a diverse range of storytelling, reflecting the creative potential of this medium.

The winner, chosen from ten exceptional entries, will be announced during IFFI’s Closing Ceremony later this evening, marking the culmination of an event celebrating cinematic excellence across formats.
