IEPFA, NCAER, and BSE Host Workshop on Digital Financial Education to Empower Indian Investors

Mumbai: The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), in partnership with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), organized a workshop on “Digitalisation of Financial Education: A Modern Approach for Investor Protection and Capital Market Development” at the BSE International Convention Hall in Mumbai. The workshop brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss the transformative impact of digital technologies on investor education, financial literacy, and the sustainable development of India’s capital markets.

Focusing on the role of digitalisation, the event explored how technological advancements can empower investors by providing them with accessible financial knowledge and tools for informed decision-making. As digital platforms become integral to the financial ecosystem, safeguarding investors and fostering long-term capital market growth have become key priorities.

BSE’s CEO and Managing Director, Sundararaman Ramamurthy, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting BSE’s commitment to promoting investor education through digital initiatives. He emphasized the importance of digitalisation in fostering an informed, empowered investor community capable of navigating the complexities of modern financial markets.

Anita Shah Akella, CEO of IEPFA and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, delivered the keynote address, discussing the government’s efforts to enhance investor protection and the role of IEPFA in promoting financial literacy. “In today’s digital age, it is essential for investors to be equipped with the tools and knowledge to make informed financial decisions,” she said. “By embracing technology, we can ensure that investor protection and financial education reach every corner of India, empowering citizens and fostering sustainable growth in our capital markets.”

The workshop featured a distinguished panel of experts who shared insights on digital financial education, investor protection, and capital market development. Key speakers included Dr. C. S.
