IDCO Clears 37 Industrial, MSME Projects to Accelerate Investments in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s industrial expansion received another push with the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) approving 37 land proposals for industrial and MSME projects at a meeting of its Land Allotment Committee held on September 2.

The approvals include 24 proposals for major industrial projects and 13 for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The move is expected to speed up project implementation, create local employment and strengthen industrial and supply-chain ecosystems across different parts of the state.

The meeting was chaired by IDCO Chairperson and Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee.

The latest approvals come amid IDCO’s efforts to streamline land administration and reduce delays in processing project proposals. The corporation is focusing on time-bound decision-making and investor facilitation to create a more predictable environment for industries seeking to establish or expand operations in Odisha.

Beyond clearing land proposals, IDCO has also stepped up field-level monitoring to ensure that approved projects translate into actual investments. Under Padhee’s leadership, direct inspections are being undertaken at emerging industrial estates and strategic industrial corridors in areas including Khordha, Cuttack and Kalinga Nagar.

The inspections are aimed at assessing the readiness of industrial sites and identifying infrastructure bottlenecks that could delay project implementation. Officials are reviewing land development and grading, master planning, power and water supply, road connectivity, freight movement and other essential infrastructure.

Worker-centric facilities are also receiving attention, particularly infrastructure that can support a growing industrial workforce and ensure safe and accessible workplaces for women employed in manufacturing and other industrial clusters.

The corporation’s approach seeks to bridge the gap between administrative approvals and on-ground execution by identifying infrastructure constraints early and coordinating with relevant agencies for their resolution.

The twin emphasis on faster land clearances and field-level monitoring is aimed at ensuring that industrial land allotments result in productive investments, employment generation and sustained economic activity rather than remaining unused.

With continued focus on responsive land management, infrastructure preparedness and investor support, IDCO is seeking to strengthen Odisha’s position as an investment destination while supporting both large industries and the expansion of MSMEs across the state.
