H&UD Minister Reviews Insectika’s BSF Waste Upcycling Facility in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development and Public Enterprises, Government of Odisha, today visited Insectika’s state-of-the-art Black Soldier Fly (BSF)–based waste upcycling facility located at the Bharatpur Micro Composting Centre in Bhubaneswar.

During the visit, the Minister reviewed the innovative processes employed at the facility, where organic waste is efficiently converted into high-value outputs using BSF larvae. He observed how the technology not only accelerates waste decomposition but also produces sustainable by-products, including protein-rich animal feed and organic soil enhancers.

Dr. Mohapatra praised the collaboration between the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Insectika, noting that the introduction of BSF technology represents a significant leap in scientific waste processing. He highlighted that such circular-economy initiatives have the potential to strengthen urban sanitation systems, reduce landfill dependency, and create green livelihood opportunities for local communities.

He further emphasized that technology-driven solutions like BSF-based waste upcycling align with the State Government’s broader vision of environmentally responsible urban development and innovation-led municipal services.
