
Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions across the state, Odisha Government on Thursday directed to prepone the summer vacation for all schools from April 21.
All schools government, private, and aided for all classes up to Class 12 will remain closed. The decision to reopen schools will be taken later. A special notification regarding this will be published soon by the Department of Schools and Mass Education.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the decision. In his tweet, he wrote-
“As per the academic calendar, summer vacation was scheduled from May 4 to June 17 this year. However, as per the direction of the Chief Minister, summer vacation has been preponed due to the prevailing heatwave in the state. The decision for extending the vacation will be taken later,” informed School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
