New Delhi: Dr. Manoj Govil, Secretary of the Department of Expenditure at the Ministry of Finance, inaugurated a Medical Health Check-up Camp on September 20, 2024, as part of the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir campaign. The event took place in North Block and was organized by the Departments of Economic Affairs, Expenditure, and Revenue.
The camp featured two general physicians from the Rural Health Training Centre in Najafgarh and an ophthalmologist from Sharp Sight Eye Centre, New Delhi. Together, they assessed the health of over 100 Safai Mitras and contractual staff who had undergone medical blood tests on September 17, 2024. The doctors evaluated various health parameters based on the participants’ lab reports at the two designated camps set up within the premises.
In his address, Dr. Govil emphasized the importance of health coverage under the PM-Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), a central government initiative that offers free health insurance up to ₹5 lakh for underprivileged individuals. He also directed the organizing departments to prioritize the provision of prescribed medications for the Safai Mitras.
