Green Corridor Created In Bhubaneswar To Airlift A Patient

Bhubaneswar: A green corridor was created for a critically ill youth Amit Pradhan from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Biju Patnaik International Airport on Thursday. He was airlifted to Apollo hospital in Chennai.

Amit, a 24 year old youth from Berhampur tested Covid Positive and has been undergoing treatment in AIIMS since May 2. His condition deteriorated and has been on a ventilator  support since May 12. 

According to doctors, a portion of his lungs has been severely affected due to Covid. He also has pneumonia, septicaemia and major fungal infection.

Doctors at AIIMS suggested lung transplant and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment which is only possible in Apollo Hospital in Chennai. A team of six doctors from Apollo arrived in Bhubaneswar to study Amit’s health condition before shifting him for further treatment.
