Bhubaneswar: V Shrinivas, Secretary of the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (P&PW), announced the integration of pension portals of all pension disbursing banks into the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal during the launch ceremony of the portal by Bank of India on April 26, 2024. This initiative aims to streamline services for pensioners and ensure ease of living for them.
Secretary Shrinivas highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare to enhance the welfare of pensioners, with a focus on digital empowerment. Among these initiatives, the Bhavishya platform stands out for its comprehensive digitization of pension processing and payment procedures. The platform facilitates end-to-end digitization, starting from the online filing of pension papers by retirees to the issuance of the Pension Payment Order (PPO) in electronic format, which is stored in the Digilocker.
The Bhavishya platform, an integrated online pension processing system, was made mandatory for all central government departments since January 1, 2017. It is currently operational in 98 ministries/departments, including 870 attached offices and 8,174 Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs). Notably, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare received the 3rd rank for Bhavishya in the NeSDA Assessment 2021 among all Central Government e-Governance Service Delivery Portals.
To address issues faced by pensioners related to banks, such as change of bank, status of life certificate submission, pension slip, Form 16, and pension receipt information, the department is integrating the websites of Pension Disbursing Banks with the Integrated Pensioners Portal. The integration of pension portals of State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, and Canara Bank with the Bhavishya portal has already been completed.
