Bhubaneswar: Gold deposits have been identified in Odisha’s Deogarh and Keonjhar districts, with further exploration underway to assess their potential, Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena informed the state Assembly on Thursday.
The Minister revealed that the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has completed G-2 level exploration in the Adas-Rampalli area of Deogarh, which has yielded encouraging results. Similarly, G-3 level exploration in the Gopur-Gajipur area of Keonjhar has shown promising findings, leading to the commencement of G-2 level exploration in the region.
This exploration is being carried out collaboratively by the GSI and Odisha’s Directorate of Mines and Geology. Minister Jena noted that further actions, including any decisions on extraction, will be guided by recommendations from the Technical Committee after the exploration agencies submit their final reports.
