Global Unity on World Hearing Day: Departments and Institutes Undertake Initiatives for Hearing Health

New Delhi: March 3rd marks World Hearing Day, an occasion when the world collectively emphasizes the importance of hearing health, prevention of hearing loss, and overall awareness.

Led by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, National institutes and Regional Centers orchestrated a series of awareness programs. In Mumbai, the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) took a proactive step by organizing free hearing screenings, offering individuals of all age groups an opportunity for crucial hearing assessments.

In Chennai, NI NIEPMD contributed to the cause by conducting an awareness program and providing training to Airport authorities at Chennai Airport.

Regional Centers, including Chhatarpur and others, orchestrated various online seminars, awareness rallies, and competitions. CRC Chhatarpur conducted an enlightening online webinar on hearing impairment, shedding light on the indispensable role of audiologists in hearing health. Simultaneously, CRC Nagpur emphasized the significance of hearing care, dispelling ear-related misconceptions, and promoting hearing hygiene.

To cater to diverse audiences, CRC Rajnandgaon organized an awareness rally along with a drawing competition and a hearing aid distribution program. Similarly, activities at Shantiniketan Ratanpally, Vivekananda Adivasi Kalyan Samiti, Birbhum, included banner displays, dance performances, and poetry recitations by girl students.

CRC Davanagere, CRC Lucknow, and CRC Bhopal actively engaged in organizing various awareness-related programs on World Hearing Day. The shared consensus is that hearing impairment is not a curse but a challenge that can be overcome through awareness and the use of hearing aids.

The overarching goal is to build an inclusive society that focuses on the complete development of capabilities, transcending obstacles. This approach aims to strengthen society and empower individuals to overcome hearing challenges. As the global community recognizes World Hearing Day, a unified step is taken toward creating a world where everyone has access to hearing care and awareness.
