French Pole Vaulter Anthony Ammirati’s Unfortunate ‘Manhood Mishap’ Viral Moment

Stade de France: French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati has gained viral fame, but not for the reasons he would have hoped. During a competition in front of a full house at the Stade de France on Saturday, August 3, Anthony narrowly missed securing a spot in the men’s pole vault final. The 21-year-old’s failed attempts at clearing 5.70m included a bizarre and unfortunate incident where his ‘bulge’ made contact with the bar during his second jump, knocking it off its stand.

In a video that quickly spread across social media, viewers can see Anthony’s legs initially make contact with the bar, but it is ultimately dislodged when his penis brushes against it.

The ‘manhood mishap’ left Anthony visibly disappointed as he landed on the mat in pain. This incident isn’t the first of its kind; at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Japanese vaulter Hiroki Ogita similarly became the center of attention when his groin hit the bar after initially disturbing it with his legs.

To the dismay of French fans, Anthony was unable to clear the 5.70m height in his three attempts, finishing 15th in the 31-man field. His performance fell short of the top 12 required to advance. Anthony, who claimed the World U20 Championship in 2022, saw his Olympic hopes dashed.

Despite the setback, Anthony Ammirati’s social media presence surged following the incident, with his Instagram followers reportedly increasing. The event led to a flurry of cheeky responses and jokes online.

Commentators found it challenging to tactfully describe the situation, leading to some awkward pauses. They noted that the failure was not due to a lack of height but rather an unfortunate mid-air collision. Social media users were quick to chime in with humorous remarks, suggesting Anthony learn about tucking and offering light-hearted one-liners.

Meanwhile, world record holder Mondo Duplantis of Sweden led the qualification by clearing 5.75m on his first attempt. Norway’s Guttormsen Sondre finished second, while Greece’s Karalis Emmanouli took third place. Interestingly, none of the pole vaulters attempted the automatic qualifying height of 5.80m.
