
Goa/Kochi: The French Carrier Strike Group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier FNS Charles de Gaulle, has commenced a week-long visit to India, reinforcing the robust maritime partnership between India and France. Scheduled from January 3 to January 9, 2025, the visit includes port calls in Goa and Kochi, aiming to enhance interoperability and foster collaboration between the two navies.
In Goa, the French Carrier Strike Group is participating in a series of maritime and shore-based activities. Highlights include a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea with the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, showcasing operational synergy and interoperability between the two forces.
The harbour phase features professional exchanges, cross-deck visits, and Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs). Senior naval leaders, including Rear Admiral Jacques Mallard, Commander of the French Navy Strike Group, and Rear Admiral Hugues Laine, along with Commanding Officers of French ships, will engage with Rear Admiral Ajay D Theophilus, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area.
Simultaneously, French naval ships FS Forbin and FS Alsace, part of the Carrier Strike Group, are docked in Kochi, conducting professional interactions and SMEEs. The Commanding Officers of these ships are meeting with senior leadership from the Southern Naval Command, furthering bilateral cooperation in the maritime domain.
