
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote tourism, the centre has initiated an action for the development of 65 lighthouses on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the country.
Union Minister for ports, shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal informed this in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Under the initiative five lighthouses located at four districts of Odisha, namely Gopalpur lighthouse in Ganjam, Puri lighthouse, Chandrabhaga lighthouse ( Puri), Paradip lighthouse (Jagatsinghpur) and False Point lighthouse in Kendrapara district have been identified for development.
The project components for the above lighthouses have been finalized and necessary clearances from State Coastal Zone Management Authority for Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance and other local bodies have been sought.
No special funds will be allocated for the project as it will be done in PPP mode, he informed.
