Five-Day Training Begins for 100 Odia PGT Teachers in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Around 100 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) teaching Odia in government higher secondary schools across Odisha are undergoing a five-day induction training aimed at strengthening their teaching skills and improving classroom engagement.

Organised by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education under the School and Mass Education Department, the training is being held at IMAGE, Siripur, Bhubaneswar. Teachers from Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools from different parts of the state are participating in the programme.

The training focuses not only on enhancing teachers’ subject knowledge but also on helping them understand their competencies and use them more effectively in the classroom.

In the inaugural session, PM-POSHAN State Nodal Officer Bhawani Prasad Mishra urged the teachers to set an example for their students and play a stronger role in shaping their learning environment.

Mishra also stressed the need to identify gaps in communication and understanding between teachers and students. He said addressing such gaps would help teachers connect better with students and make classroom learning more effective.

Director of Higher Secondary Education Niyati Pattnaik encouraged the participating teachers to keep updating their knowledge and skills. She emphasised that teachers must continue to remain learners themselves to effectively guide students.

Joint Director Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives and focus areas of the five-day programme. The training is intended to support teachers as they take on their roles in higher secondary education and strengthen their classroom practices.

Joint Director Snigdha Mishra proposed the vote of thanks, while Deputy Director C.H. Vijayalakshmi coordinated the programme.

The induction programme brings together teachers from across Odisha and provides a common platform for professional learning, exchange of classroom experiences and reflection on the changing needs of higher secondary students.
