Odisha to Hold Angan Utsav from September 27 to 29

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will organise ‘Angan Utsav’ across the state from September 27 to 29, with the three-day programme set to showcase the role of Anganwadi Centres in early childhood care, nutrition, health and community participation.

A high-level review meeting on the preparations for the event was held at the Women and Child Development Department conference hall in Bhubaneswar on Monday under the chairpersonship of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.

The meeting reviewed arrangements for the state-wide celebration, including proposed activities, coordination mechanisms and district-level preparedness. Officials were directed to ensure that the planned programmes are implemented effectively at the grassroots level.

Parida stressed the need for active participation of stakeholders and greater community engagement during the celebrations. She called for the event to be organised in an inclusive and people-centric manner, with activities reflecting the importance of Anganwadi Centres in supporting children, mothers and families.

The Deputy Chief Minister also emphasised the need to highlight the changes and improvements taking place at Anganwadi Centres and showcase the services being delivered for the holistic development of children and maternal well-being.

The three-day event is expected to provide a platform to highlight the work of Anganwadi Centres beyond their traditional role in nutrition support, including their contribution to early childhood development, health awareness and community participation.

Officials were also asked to ensure coordination among departments and stakeholders so that the programmes planned across districts are carried out uniformly and effectively.

Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Dr Mrinalini Darswal, Director WCD Monisha Banerjee and other senior officials and departmental officers attended the review meeting.

The department is now working towards finalising district-level preparations ahead of the September 27 launch of Angan Utsav.
