Five-Day Skill Development Training for Vocational Students Begins in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A five-day skill development training programme for Class XII students and faculty members of IT-ITeS and Electronics & Hardware (E&H) trades of Government Vocational Higher Secondary Schools was inaugurated today at the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC) and the World Skill Centre (WSC) in Bhubaneswar. The initiative is being facilitated by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) under the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha.

The programme has been designed to strengthen practical competencies and improve industry readiness of students through hands-on training and expert-led sessions in advanced technical environments.

At the inaugural session held at CTTC, C.H. Vijayalakshmi, Joint Director, DHSE, Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director, DHSE, and K.M. Rajan, Senior Manager (Training), CTTC, were present and interacted with the participants. At the World Skill Centre, the programme was attended by Madhusudan Mallik, Deputy Director; Pinaki Pattanaik, COO, WSC; Sasmita Sahoo, Deputy Director; Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director; and T. Thambhiraja, Principal, WSC.

As part of the programme, 102 students from eight districts—Balangir, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj and Jagatsinghpur—are undergoing training at CTTC. Similarly, 71 students from six districts—Balangir, Balasore, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak and Kendrapada—have joined the training programme at the World Skill Centre.

Officials highlighted that exposure to premier institutions like CTTC and WSC would help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements. The training programme is expected to enhance technical proficiency, boost confidence, and equip students with skills aligned to current industry standards, supporting Odisha’s vision of building a skilled and future-ready workforce.
