First Validation Flight Lands at Noida International Airport, Marking a Major Milestone

Noida: The Noida International Airport (NIA) achieved a significant milestone today with the successful landing of its first validation flight, signaling a crucial step toward its operational readiness. The historic event was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Member of Parliament Gautam Buddha Nagar Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, along with senior government officials and project stakeholders.

The flight, operated by IndiGo, touched down in the afternoon to a ceremonial water cannon salute and enthusiastic applause, especially from site workers who played a vital role in the airport’s development. Senior officials including Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation Vumlunmang Vualnam, Chairman, Airport Authority of India Vipin Kumar, and Additional Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh S. P. Goyal were also present to witness the milestone.

The validation flight served to confirm the functionality of the airport’s approach and departure procedures, navigational aids, and air traffic control systems. Addressing the gathering, Ram Mohan Naidu lauded the efforts of all stakeholders and highlighted the transformative potential of Jewar Airport in enhancing air travel and regional connectivity.

“The Noida International Airport will be a world-class facility when it opens in 2025, with one operational runway and a terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually,” said the Minister. He added that the airport’s design would reflect the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Uttar Pradesh, offering passengers a unique experience.

During his visit, Ram Mohan Naidu reviewed project progress and urged the operator to meet the April 2025 deadline. He emphasized the need for sustainable infrastructure, including the use of solar energy, as part of the government’s commitment to eco-friendly development.

The Minister also assessed the airport’s connectivity plans, including road, rail, and metro links, and explored the potential for future high-speed rail connectivity, which could integrate the airport with national and regional transportation networks.

Ram Mohan Naidu underscored the economic potential of the project, which is expected to generate thousands of jobs, boost tourism, and drive regional development in Western Uttar Pradesh. He expressed gratitude to the farmers of Jewar for their support and acknowledged the dedication of site workers in creating what is set to become Asia’s largest airport.

The Minister praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their vision and commitment to infrastructure development. He credited their efforts with ensuring the swift execution of this landmark project, which promises to set new benchmarks in airport operations and passenger experience.

The Noida International Airport, once operational, will not only enhance regional air connectivity but also establish Uttar Pradesh as a hub for economic and infrastructural growth. The successful validation flight marks the beginning of an exciting chapter, as the airport prepares for its official operational debut in 2025.

Ram Mohan Naidu extended his best wishes to the NIA team and thanked IndiGo for operating the inaugural validation flight, setting the stage for a transformative aviation experience in India.
