Finance Minister Sitharaman Affirms Government’s Commitment to Inclusive Development in Interim Budget 2024-25

New Delhi:  During the presentation of the Interim Budget 2024-25 in Parliament, Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, reiterated the government’s steadfast commitment to prioritizing the welfare and development of four major segments – the ‘Garib’ (Poor), ‘Mahilayen’ (Women), ‘Yuva’ (Youth), and ‘Annadata’ (Farmer), under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Smt. Sitharaman emphasized that the needs, aspirations, and welfare of these four segments are the government’s highest priority. She stated, “The country progresses when they progress. All four require and receive government support in their quest to better their lives. Their empowerment and well-being will drive the country forward.”

Highlighting the government’s governance model, the Finance Minister underscored the effectiveness of social justice and the emphasis on reducing corruption, which has brought transparency and benefits to all eligible individuals. She pointed out the success of ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ in achieving these objectives. The government’s focus, she emphasized, is on outcomes rather than outlays.

Smt. Sitharaman outlined the government’s all-round, all-pervasive, and all-inclusive approach to development, aligning with the vision of making India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047. She stressed the need to improve people’s capabilities and empower them to achieve this ambitious goal.

The Finance Minister’s remarks reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development, social justice, and transparent governance. The Interim Budget presentation emphasized the holistic approach to address the diverse needs of different segments of society and drive India towards comprehensive and sustainable development.
