Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Presides Over 19th Foundation Day Celebrations of SPMCIL

New Delhi: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, presided over the 19th Foundation Day celebrations of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) in New Delhi today, utilizing a hybrid mode for the event.

The event saw the presence of Shri Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Shri Vijay Ranjan Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, along with the Board of Directors of SPMCIL, and other senior officers from the Ministry of Finance. Virtual participation from various SPMCIL units, senior officers, employees, union representatives, and trustees added to the enthusiasm of the celebration.

During the ceremony, Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman launched three souvenir coins:

Coloured souvenir coin on Endangered Animals of India – Greater One Horned Rhino.
Bi-metallic clad souvenir coin on Enlightenment of Buddha.
Coloured souvenir coin of Ral Lalla and Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
In her address, Smt. Sitharaman commended SPMCIL for its production of security products, including Bank Notes, Security Paper, Postal Stamps, Passports, and Medallions. She acknowledged the company’s thoughtful initiative in minting a ‘Visually Impaired Friendly’ Coin Series and its new venture in producing e-Passports with a Track and Trace system, ensuring enhanced security and information convenience.

Highlighting the global appreciation of SPMCIL’s souvenir products presented by the Government of India at international forums, the Finance Minister urged employees and the Board to stay abreast of technological advancements and respond to the changing needs of this niche sector. She applauded the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, especially in aspirational districts and remote areas.

During the event, CMD, SPMCIL, shared the company’s achievements and initiatives, with Chief General Managers of the nine units and the Corporate Office presenting awards to employees for outstanding achievements. Prestigious awards, including the CMD Cup for Overall Best Performance, were conferred upon India Security Press, Nashik, in different categories like Productivity, Environment & Safety, Energy Conservation, Learning & Development, Official Language, and Vigilance Activities.
