FIH Pro League: Amit Rohidas to lead Indian Hockey team

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace hockey player Amit Rohidas will lead the Indian hockey team as captain for two FIH Men’s Pro League matches against Argentina.

Hockey India had named the 22-member Indian team for the two matches are scheduled to be held at the Kalinga Stadium on March 19 and 20.

The new squad include players namely, PR Sreejesh and Krishan Bahadur Pathak as Goalkeepers. Harmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Surender Kumar, Varun Kumar, Jarmanpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas as defenders. In the role of midfielders, players Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Hardik Singh, Sumit, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Moirangthem and Rabichandra Singh will be seen.

 While, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Shilanand Lakra, Sukhjeet Singh, Dilpreet Singh and Abhishek will be in forwards.

Suraj Karkera, Mandeep Mor, Dipsan Tirkey, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Sanjay, Jaskaran Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Ashis Kumar Topno, Gursahibjit Singh and Mohd. Raheel has been named as  standbys players.

So far the Indian team has played six matches in the Pro League of this season of which they have  four matches. They lost the last two matches against France with 5-0, 2-5 and Spain 5-4, 3-5. The Indian team is placed second with 12 points in the point table while Netherlands is leading with 16 points.
