Entries invited for Odisha State Film Awards for three years

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to celebrate the excellence of Odia cinema, the Odisha culture department has officially announced the opening of submissions for the Odisha State Film Awards for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022. These awards had been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and associated restrictions. The previous edition of the Odisha State Film Awards in 2019 was marred by controversies and legal disputes.

The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department of Odisha issued an advertisement notification on its website, calling upon film producers to submit their entries for the 32nd Odisha State Film Awards-2020, 33rd Odisha State Film Awards-2021, and 34th Odisha State Film Awards-2022. The department has set the submission deadline for September 20, 2023. Filmmakers are requested to submit their films for each year separately, following the provided proforma on the website.

To be eligible for the Odisha State Film Awards-2020, films must have been produced between January 1 and December 31, 2020. Similarly, submissions for OSFA 2021 and OSFA 2022 should correspond to the respective years. Eligible films should be in the Odia language or any of the tribal languages spoken in the state, and they must feature original content, without any plagiarism from films in other languages.

Agencies affiliated with the state or central government can participate exclusively in the categories of Best Tribal Language Film, Best Children’s Film, Best Educational Film, and Best Documentary Film.

The rules and regulations governing the Odisha State Film Awards will adhere to The Odisha State Film Awards for Film Rules 2010, which were amended in 2023. This initiative provides a platform for filmmakers in Odisha to showcase their talent and contributions to the world of cinema while celebrating the vibrant cinematic culture of the state.
