Eminent Odia musician and singer Prafulla Kar is no more

Bhubaneswar: Legendary Odia music director, singer and lyricist Prafulla Kar passed away after a prolonged illness on Sunday. He was 83.

As per sources, after taking his dinner he went to sleep.

A native of Puri, he was born into a family of musicians. His uncle Khetra Mohan Kar was a renowned Table player.

Recipient of numerous awards, he received the Padma Shri in 2015. He has worked as a music director in 70 Oriya film and lent his voice to hundreds of films as well as 4 Bengali films. He had also composed for numerous Odissi dance dramas and ballets. He had also recorded Odia Bhagabat and Chhanda.
