Election Commission of India Ready for Phase 1 of General Elections 2024

New Delhi: With the onset of elections to the 18th Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies in four states, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has completed all necessary preparations to facilitate the smooth conduct of Phase 1, which begins tomorrow.

Emphasizing its unwavering commitment to ensuring a free, fair, peaceful, accessible, participative, and inducement-free poll, the ECI underscores its dedication to upholding the democratic process. Over the past two years, the Commission and its teams across States and Union Territories have diligently worked to provide India’s voters with the best possible experience.

Extensive consultations, reviews, field visits, and comprehensive training of officials have been conducted, along with the implementation of new and relevant operating procedures. Collaboration with a wide range of agencies and organizations nationwide has further enhanced the election process.

Today, the Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, finalized the preparations for Phase 1 of General Elections 2024. The remaining six phases of polling will continue until June 1st, with approximately 97 crore voters ready to exercise their franchise. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4th.

The ECI now urges voters to fulfill their democratic duty by heading to the polling stations and casting their votes with a sense of responsibility and pride. As the nation embarks on this crucial democratic exercise, the ECI calls upon every citizen to participate actively in shaping the future of the country.
