
Chennai: The hockey arena witnessed a remarkable feat as Hockey Odisha’s men’s and women’s teams both secured podium finishes at the Khelo India Youth Games, bringing home double medals.
In an exhilarating final clash, the Hockey Odisha men’s team showcased their prowess by defeating Madhya Pradesh with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. The dynamic duo of Pratap Toppo, along with contributions from Karan Lakra and Rohit Kullu, orchestrated a stellar performance, clinching the gold and leaving a lasting mark on the tournament.
The women’s team, equally determined, claimed the Bronze medal with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Mizoram. Supriya Kujur’s dual strikes, complemented by goals from Surekha Bhala and Karuna Minz, sealed the podium finish for Hockey Odisha’s women.
Expressing his satisfaction, David John, Coach for the Women’s Hockey team, remarked, “Winning the bronze is a proud moment for the team. Every match has been a learning experience, and I believe this will contribute to their growth as formidable contenders in the future matches.”
BJ Kariappa, Coach for the Hockey Odisha Men’s team, shared his elation, saying, “Our team displayed exceptional dedication and effort in the final.
