Double-Podium Triumph for India in Para Badminton As Murugesan wins Silver and Ramadass bags bronze at Paris Paralympics 2024

Paris:  In a thrilling day of para badminton at the Paris Paralympics 2024, India celebrated a double-podium finish in the women’s singles SU5 category. Thulasimathi Murugesan, India’s promising para shuttler, showcased her talent in the finals but fell short against China’s Yang Qiu Xia, the reigning champion. The closely contested match ended with scores of 17-21, 10-21, securing Murugesan a commendable silver medal.

Despite the loss in the final, India’s spirits soared as Manisha Ramadass clinched the bronze medal in the same category. Ramadass delivered an exceptional performance against Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren, dominating the match with a straight-sets victory of 21-12, 21-8.

This achievement marks India’s third medal in para badminton today, highlighting the country’s rising prowess in the sport on the global stage. The double-podium finish is a testament to the hard work and dedication of India’s para-athletes, who continue to make the nation proud at the Paralympic Games.
