Digital India Revolution: Transforming Lives and Inspiring the World

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, highlighted India’s digital transformation during a press conference on Digital Infrastructure and Connectivity held today in the national capital. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh emphasized, India’s digital revolution has not only reshaped governance but also earned global admiration.

Launched on July 1, 2015, the Digital India program envisions transforming India into a knowledge-based economy and digitally empowered society. Singh noted that initiatives under this program have revolutionized governance by making digital services accessible, inclusive, and empowering for all. Citizens can now complete essential tasks or transfer money with a single click, showcasing the transformative power of digital technology.

“Digital India has laid the foundation for a developed India by 2047. Over the past 11 years, the Government has brought about a digital revolution, impacting the lives of 1.4 billion people,” Singh stated.

The Minister shared his experiences of India’s digital success being acknowledged worldwide. During his international engagements, foreign government representatives and citizens have praised India’s achievements, underscoring the country’s unique position on the global digital landscape.

Singh highlighted key initiatives like UPI, DigiLocker, CoWIN, Aarogya Setu, e-Sanjeevani, and e-Court, which have simplified processes and benefited millions of citizens. He noted that digital platforms like the Parivesh portal have revolutionized the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, streamlining environmental clearances with unprecedented speed and transparency.

India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a hallmark of the country’s digital success, is now making waves globally. UPI is operational in seven countries, including UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, and Mauritius. Its recent launch in France marks its first entry into Europe, enabling seamless transactions for Indian consumers and businesses abroad.

Several nations have signed Memorandums of Understanding to adopt India’s Digital Payment Infrastructure (DPI), further enhancing India’s credibility as a global thought leader in digital payments.

The Minister reiterated that the Digital India program is more than just technological advancements; it is a tool for social empowerment and governance reform. By eliminating middlemen, digital platforms have ensured that benefits reach citizens directly, significantly curbing corruption. Internet connectivity in villages has brought India closer to achieving digital inclusion, empowering rural areas with modern tools for growth.

“India’s digital revolution is a testament to the power of technology in empowering lives, making governance transparent, and placing India on the global map,” Singh concluded.
