New Delhi: The Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) marked its 71st Raising Day at DRDO Bhawan, with Secretary of Defence Production, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, serving as the chief guest. The event celebrated the organization’s long-standing contributions to military aviation and emphasized the importance of modernizing quality assurance (QA) techniques in line with global aeronautical standards to further the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat.’
In his address, Shri Kumar praised DGAQA’s role in ensuring quality for military aviation stores over the past seven decades. He emphasized the need for advanced QA methodologies, calling it essential for India to keep pace with global practices in military aviation. He also highlighted the importance of empowering Indian industries and easing business operations in the defense sector.
One of the key moments of the event was the release of Approval of a Firm and its Quality Management System Issue-III: 2024, the updated governing document that provides Indian companies with greater autonomy in military aviation. This initiative is aimed at simplifying processes and promoting self-reliance in the defense manufacturing sector.
Director General of DGAQA, Shri Sanjay Chawla, took the opportunity to reflect on the Directorate’s journey since its establishment in 1954. He highlighted the organization’s expansion to 50 establishments across the country and its pivotal role in driving indigenization efforts. Shri Chawla reaffirmed DGAQA’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing, aligning with India’s broader goals of reducing dependency on foreign imports.
DGAQA serves as the regulatory authority responsible for overseeing quality assurance for military aviation stores, ensuring the readiness and reliability of equipment used by the Indian Air Force, Army Aviation, Naval Aviation, and the Indian Coast Guard.
