
Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo conducted a comprehensive review of irrigation projects in Balangir district, with a special focus on the Upper Lanth Irrigation Project. The foundation stone for this crucial project was laid during the recent visit of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to Balangir. Once completed, the project is expected to resolve irrigation challenges in the Khaprakhol and Belpada areas, benefiting thousands of farmers.
During the review meeting, Development Commissioner Anu Garg was also present. Deputy CM Singhdeo personally examined key aspects of the project, including land acquisition, dam construction, and office infrastructure development. He provided strategic insights on the project’s geographical challenges and directed officials to directly communicate any hurdles that may impede progress.
The irrigation project is scheduled for completion by November 2027. Deputy CM Singhdeo emphasized the importance of adhering to deadlines and ensuring seamless execution. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening irrigation infrastructure to enhance agricultural productivity in the region.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Water Resources EIC Chandrashekhar Padhi, Balangir Collector Gaurav Shivaji Ishalwar, OLIC MD Alok Kar, and senior officers from the Water Resources Department.
