New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have made a significant addition to their squad for the remainder of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by signing Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh, who was part of the Delhi Capitals squad, has unfortunately been sidelined from the tournament due to a hamstring injury. Marsh’s absence created an opportunity for the Capitals to bolster their lineup, and they have swiftly moved to secure the services of Gulbadin Naib.
Gulbadin Naib brings a wealth of experience to the Delhi Capitals setup. The Afghan all-rounder has featured prominently for his national team, representing Afghanistan in 82 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 65 T20 Internationals (T20Is) to date. Known for his dynamic style of play, Naib adds versatility to the Capitals’ squad with his skills as a right-handed batter and a medium pacer.
Despite his impressive credentials, this will be Naib’s maiden stint in the Tata IPL. He joins the Delhi Capitals at his reserve price of INR 50 lakhs, ready to make his mark in one of the most prestigious T20 leagues in the world.
Mitchell Marsh’s journey in the IPL 2024 has unfortunately been cut short due to a hamstring injury. The Australian all-rounder featured in the first four games of the season for the Delhi Capitals before suffering the injury during the match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
