
Bhubaneswar: Popularly known as the Cyclone man of India, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), has been elected as the third vice-president of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).
He won 113 votes in the election for the post. A long with Mohapatra, Daouda Konate, director of the meteorology of Cote d’Ivoire and Eoin Moran, Director Met Éireann, the Irish Meteorological Service were elected the first and second vice presidents.
