Cyber Surakshit Bharat Initiative Strengthens Cybersecurity Capabilities with 45th CISO Deep-Dive Training

Hyderabad: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) continues to fortify India’s cybersecurity framework through its “Cyber Surakshit Bharat” initiative, aiming to raise awareness about cybercrime and enhance the capabilities of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and frontline IT officials across government departments.

From June 18 to 22, 2024, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) organized the 45th CISO Deep-Dive training program at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad. This session brought together participants from Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. The inaugural session saw the presence of senior officials from MeitY, NeGD, and ASCI.

The deep-dive training is designed to equip CISOs with a comprehensive understanding of cyber-attacks, exposure to the latest safeguarding technologies, and the skills needed to translate the benefits of a resilient e-infrastructure to their respective organizations and the broader public. The program also focused on providing a holistic view of legal provisions, enabling CISOs to formulate robust cybersecurity policies and develop effective cyber crisis management plans.

The initiative aims to create a cyber-resilient ecosystem by spreading awareness and building capacities within government departments. It aligns with the objectives of the Digital India programme, ensuring the integrated delivery of government services to citizens while emphasizing the importance of cyber hygiene, safety, and security.

Launched in 2018, the CISO training program represents a successful partnership between the government and industry under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Over the years, NeGD has conducted 45 batches of CISO deep-dive training programs, benefiting over 1,662 CISOs and frontline IT officials. This extensive training initiative has significantly contributed to strengthening cybersecurity measures across various government departments, making a substantial impact in the field of cyber security.
