Bhubaneswar: After nearly 36 hours of restrictions, the curfew imposed in Cuttack city has been lifted, marking a steady return to normalcy following the recent unrest during Durga idol immersion.
Police Commissioner S Devdutta Singh said that the overall situation in the city has improved significantly and continues to be closely monitored by the administration. He informed that adequate police personnel remain stationed in sensitive zones to maintain peace and prevent any flare-ups. “There were no disturbances reported during the curfew period, and the city has remained peaceful,” Singh added.
The Police Commissioner further stated that internet services will be restored after a thorough security review, even as the suspension remains in place till 7 pm today.
Singh also appealed to residents to maintain peace, unity, and brotherhood, stressing the need for cooperation to ensure lasting harmony in the city.
The curfew had been imposed on Sunday night across 13 police station areas, including Darghabazar, Mangalabagh, and Cantonment, after violent clashes broke out during a Durga idol immersion procession.
With the situation now under control, daily life in Cuttack is gradually resuming, and officials have assured that vigilance will continue until complete normalcy is restored.
