CSIR-NIScPR and GHS Host Workshop on Science and Technology Communication

New Delhi: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) held a groundbreaking workshop on ‘Science and Technology Communication’ in collaboration with Global Health Strategies (GHS) at the Pusa campus in New Delhi.

As a constituent laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, CSIR-NIScPR spearheaded this unique initiative. The workshop brought together science communicators, scientists, and educators from diverse backgrounds to explore effective ways for scientists and researchers to engage with the media and utilize social media platforms to convey technical evidence and research in more accessible terms.

Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, addressed the workshop, underscoring the importance of such collaborative efforts in promoting scientific understanding. “These initiatives are crucial for ensuring the continued growth of scientific communication. We must persist in these efforts to bridge the gap between science and society,” she said.

Dr. Rajni Kant Srivastava, Senior Advisor at Global Health Strategies and former Head of the Policy and Communications Division at ICMR HQ, along with his role as Director of ICMR-RMRC Gorakhpur, praised the joint efforts of CSIR-NIScPR and ICMR. He highlighted the significant impact of training scientists in effective science communication.

These discussions provided valuable insights into how scientific information can be effectively disseminated to the public, ensuring that technical evidence and research are communicated clearly and accurately.
