CM Patnaik Lays Foundation Stone for ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: To empower the tribal communities of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the first-ever ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, today. The Chief Minister conveyed his greetings on this occasion and highlighted the importance of this structure, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

The ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ is envisioned as a multi-purpose center that will serve as a hub for discussions, meetings, conferences, and exhibitions showcasing tribal art, culture, and development. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his hope that this building, dedicated to the tribal people of the state, will play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of ‘Nabin Odisha, Empowered Odisha.’

Recognizing the need for such a facility, various tribal groups had approached Chairman Kartik Pandian of the Special Development Council under the ST & SC Development Department.

This multi-purpose facility, developed as a state administration project, will cater to the diverse needs of the tribal communities. The ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ aims to provide accommodation facilities for tribal community members arriving from different parts of Odisha. Given the diverse cultural practices, food preferences, and social norms within the Scheduled Tribes, the building will create an environment that respects their cultural sensitivities and offers a pleasant living facility.

The ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ will feature conference rooms, the Koraput Coffee Cafe, and the second outlet of Adisha, contributing to the overall experience and well-being of the tribal communities.

In addition to serving as a residential facility, the ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ will act as a centralized infrastructure in Bhubaneswar, providing essential services, information, and resources related to healthcare, education, government offices, and more. The facility will also offer opportunities for the display and sale of tribal artifacts and traditional garments.

The construction of the ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ aligns with the state government’s commitment to the welfare and development of tribal communities, providing them with a dedicated space for cultural exchange, empowerment, and access to essential services.
